“Bit Bar” Logo Concept

Bit Bar is a barcade/restaurant located in Salem, Massachusetts. It has a large selection of arcade games (and pinball machines!) from years past. The target demographic tends to skew Millenial, younger Gen X, and older Gen Y, and it plays heavily into the feeling of gaming nostalgia.

This logo concept utilizes a “scanline” effect, as seen on CRT displays found in a typical arcade cabinet. The “I” also doubles as a stack of tokens. Each “scanline,” in addition, has dividing lines, which simultaneously mimic phosphors on a CRT scanline, as well as the edge of a coin.

Eurostyle was chosen as a typeface to lean in even further for the “retro” feel, conjuring nostalgia for CRT screens with its rounded squarish forms, and it plays into “nerd” culture with associations often made with science fiction and technology.
